(St. Paul, MN) – At a press conference in St. Paul tomorrow, survivor Ron Vasek and his attorneys will:

•    Discuss the Honorable Kurt J. Marben’s December 8th, 2017 Order Denying the Diocese of Crookston’s Motion to Dismiss Vasek’s negligence and public nuisance claims.
•    Reveal the letter Bishop Michael Hoeppner coerced Vasek to sign in 2015 retracting his statement that he had been abused by Msgr. Roger Grundhaus when he was 16 years old.
•    Encourage the Diocese of Crookston to end their long-standing practice of concealing and protecting sexual abusers, including Msgr. Roger Grundhaus.
•    Examine the use of public nuisance to hold entities accountable for concealing child sexual abusers, with the Diocese of Crookston being the fifth religious institution in Minnesota subject to a successful public nuisance claim.  
•    Discuss the extension of the statute of limitations in Vasek’s case under the Minnesota Child Victims Act due to Bishop Hoeppner’s threats and coercion.
