Long Island Sexual Abuse Survivors Subject to Earlier Compensation Program Deadline
(New York, NY) – At a press conference on Long Island tomorrow, Attorney J. Michael Reck will:
- Reveal former Brooklyn priest and convicted child sexual abuser, Romano Ferraro’s sordid history, and the Catholic Church’s failure to protect children in New York, Virginia, Rhode Island, Florida, Philippines, Missouri, New Jersey, Maryland, and Massachusetts. Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, former vice-chancellor of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Archbishop of Philadelphia, allowed Ferraro to run rampant throughout the United States, disregarding the safety of children.
- Discuss the covert disclosure by the Diocese of Brooklyn last week of the names of 8 priests, who were removed for the sexual abuse of children. New York Bishops have an obligation to disclose the names of all 428 predator priests statewide.
- Encourage sexual abuse survivors in the Diocese of Brooklyn to come forward before the December 21, 2017 deadline and survivors in the Diocese of Rockville Centre to come forward before the December 31, 2017 deadline.
