Thomas McConaghy: Allegations of Substance of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

In 2005, Fr. R. Thomas McConaghy resigned from ministry after being accused of sexually abusing a male student from approximately 1973 to 1975. Fr. McConaghy was the commandant at LaSalle Military Academy in Oakdale, New York when he allegedly sexually abused the student. During the time the alleged abuse occurred, Fr. McConaghy was a LaSalle Christian Brother.

Fr. R. Thomas McConaghy was ordained a LaSalle Christan Brother priest in 1981 and worked at the following locations:

  • 1981-1983: St. Andrew’s, Colchester, CT
  • 1983-1985: St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Norwich, CT
  • 1985-1990: St. Colman’s, Middlefield, CT
  • 1990-1999: St. Michael, Pawcatuck, CT
  • 1999-2005: Sacred Heart, Norwich, CT
  • 1998-2005: St. John Mission Church, Fitchville, CT

Fr. R. Thomas McConaghy is believed to be residing in Rumford, Rhode Island.
