Linda Baisi: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Linda Baisi

In 1996, a survivor of child sexual abuse brought a lawsuit against the Archdiocese of New York, St. Francis de Chantal Church, and Linda Baisi alleging abuse by Linda Baisi, a former nun, Catholic grade school teacher, and principal. The abuse began in the late 1980s when the survivor was twelve years old and continued for five years. At the time of the abuse, the survivor was a student at St. Francis de Chantal in the Bronx, where Baisi worked. Baisi admitted to the abuse in taped conversations with the
survivor.

Baisi was a nun and left her order in 1979 to begin teaching at St. Francis de Chantal. There, she became the director of religious education and was the principal in 1996 when the lawsuit was filed. Baisi was subsequently dismissed from the school. As of 2000, Baisi was reportedly living outside of the state of New York and no longer teaching.
