John W. Lennon
In April 2002, Fr. John Lennon of the Archdiocese of New York was accused of sexually abusing a high school student in the mid-1970s. The survivor was a student and hockey player at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, New York. The Archdiocese suspended Fr. Lennon in 2002 after the survivor came forward. The Vatican laicized Fr. Lennon in 2008 and he died on December 16, 2012.
Fr. John Lennon was ordained for the Maryknoll order in 1955. He left the order around 1975. He worked in parishes in New York, Boston, and the Philippines. He was also a teacher, administrator, and athletics moderator at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, New York.
