On October 14th, 2011, Fr. Thomas F. Brady of the Diocese of Brooklyn was arrested on charges of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old boy. During their investigation, diocese officials learned that Fr. Brady had allegedly sexually abused a second boy. The Diocese of Brooklyn placed Fr. Brady on administrative leave from Marine Park’s Good Shepherd Church. A grand jury reviewed the complaints and determined that they were insufficient to support criminal charges. Fr. Brady returned from administrative leave and remained Pastor Emeritus until his death on March 25, 2013.

Fr. Thomas F. Brady was born on December 3, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. He worked at Cathedral Preparatory School and Seminary in Brooklyn as a faculty member and principal, was Chaplain of the New York City Fire Department, and pastor at Good Shepherd Church in Marine Park, Brooklyn, New York.

Msgr. Brady was named on the Diocese of Brooklyn’s 2019 “List of Diocesan Clergy for Whom the Diocese Received Allegations of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor,” in the subsection “Clergy Members of the Diocese of Brooklyn With Credible Allegations: Credibility Deemed by
Diocesan Review Board Determination and/or Admission on Behalf of the Cleric.” Whether Msgr. Brady had access to children from his last known assignment in 2012 until his death in 2013 is unknown.
