Robert Loftus: Substantiated Claims of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Ordained February 2, 1963, Father Robert Loftus was named by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis on October 23, 2014 as subject of having substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor. He was previously named by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis on a list of priests with unsubstantiated claims on December 5, 2013.

Father Loftus worked in several parishes throughout the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis before taking a leave of absence in 1977.

According to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Father Robert Loftus working in the following parishes:

  • 1963-1966: Assistant pastor, St. Stephen, Anoka
  • 1966-1967: Assistant pastor, Christ the King, Minneapolis
  • 1967-1971: Assistant pastor, St. Mary’s Basilica
  • 1971-1977: Pastor, St. Frances Cabrini, Minneapolis
  • 1977: Leave of absence

Father Robert Loftus was laicized in 1977 and is currently living in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
