Joseph C. McComiskey: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

In 2002, Fr. Joseph C. McComiskey was forced to retire in the wake of an allegation of sexual abuse. The sexual abuse allegation was made to the Diocese’s sex abuse hotline and was referred to local prosecutors. Fr. McComiskey worked at St. Edward the Confessor in Syosset, New York when the allegation of sexual abuse was reported.

Fr. Joseph C. McComiskey was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rockville Centre on May 30, 1970 and worked at the following locations:

  • 1970-1975: St. Joseph’s, Babylon, NY
  • 1975-1977: Saints Philip and James, St. James, NY
  • 1977-1978: Maria Regina High School, Uniondale, NY (Counselor and Chaplain)
  • 1978-1986: St. Agnes Cathedral, Rockville Centre, NY
  • 1986-1990: St. Ignatius Martyr, Long Beach, NY
  • 1990-2002: St. Edward the Confessor, Syosset, NY
