Background on Abdul Wright
In March 2025, we filed a lawsuit on behalf of Doe 605 against Best Academy Charter School and Abdul Wright. In September of 2025, Abdul Wright was found guilty of sexually abusing Doe 605 in 2017.
Between 2016 and 2017, Wright used his position of authority to groom and manipulate Doe 605 through inappropriate attention, personal outings, and boundary violations. He cultivated trust with both Doe 605 and her family, ultimately leading to repeated sexual abuse.
In the summer of 2017, Doe 605’s parents discovered extensive late-night calls and text messages between Wright and their daughter. When they met with Best Academy founder Eric Mahmoud and Wright to raise their concerns, no explanation was provided for Wright’s inappropriate conduct.
