In 2003, Fr. Alan Jupin was named in a civil lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse. The abuse allegedly occurred in the rectory of St. John the Baptist Church in Schenectady, New York. Fr. Jupin allegedly stalked and threatened the survivor to prevent him from coming forward with the allegations. A second survivor came forward in 2003 alleging that he was sexually abused as a minor by Fr. Jupin. The Diocesan Review Board and Bishop Howard J. Hubbard reinstated Fr. Jupin following an investigation of the allegations. In 2011, after additional allegations of child sex abuse
arose, Fr. Jupin was again placed on leave. The Diocesan Review Board again found the allegations to not be credible and he was reinstated. From 2008 until his death, Fr. Jupin’s status as a priest and whether he had access to children are unknown
