Releasing Names of 109 Perpetrators Accused of Sexual Abuse Misconduct in the Diocese of Phoenix

Releasing report containing the identities, histories, photographs and information on 109 clerics accused of child sexual abuse in the Diocese of Phoenix;

Discussing the historic legislation passed by the Arizona legislature that extends the age limit for sexual abuse survivors to bring claims against a perpetrator and the institution that may have protected the perpetrator; and

Demanding full disclosure by the Diocese of Phoenix and the religious orders, regarding all clergy accused of sexual abuse who worked in the diocese.

A new report identified 109 clerics accused of child sexual abuse who worked in the Diocese of Phoenix, far more than the 43 names previously disclosed by the diocese. Speakers said the report was created from public records to give communities a fuller picture of who these men were, where they served, and how often church officials failed to provide complete transparency. They also emphasized that many religious-order priests were omitted from diocesan disclosures even though they worked in Phoenix.

The event also highlighted Arizona’s new law expanding survivors’ ability to bring claims against both abusers and institutions that protected them. Advocates said the law opens a path for accountability, healing, and safer communities, while encouraging survivors to come forward privately if they choose. The overall message was that the report is only a beginning, and that full disclosure from the Diocese of Phoenix and affiliated religious orders is still overdue.
