In 2002, Fr. John Gallant of the Archdiocese of New York was named in a lawsuit filed by a survivor of child sexual abuse. Fr. Gallant sexually abused the survivor in New York in the 1980s. Gallant “acknowledged having a past affair with a young woman.” The Archdiocese of New York removed him from ministry in 2002.
