John Gallant
In 2002, Fr. John Gallant of the Archdiocese of New York was named in a lawsuit filed by a survivor of child sexual abuse. Fr. Gallant sexually abused the survivor in New York in the 1980s. The survivor alleged that Fr. Gallant began abusing her when she was a 16-year-old student at Franciscan High School in Mohegan Lake, New York, and that the abuse lasted for nearly three years. Fr. Gallant “acknowledged having a past affair with a young woman.” The Archdiocese of New York removed him from ministry in 2002.
Fr. John Gallant was ordained in 1960. He worked in Manhattan, Goshen, Yonkers, Peekskill, Pine Planes and Sloatsburg, NY. His brother, Fr. Alfred Gallant, is also an accused abuser.
