Fr. John Haberthier worked in various dioceses throughout the United States. Fr. Habertheir was included in the Colorado Attorney General’s Special Master’s Report on “Roman Catholic Clergy Sexual Abuse of Children in Colorado from 1950 to 2019.” According to the Special Master’s Report, Fr. Haberthier was an extern priest in the Diocese of Pueblo for fewer than 4 years, during which time he groomed and sexually abused at least 4 minor boys. Fr. Haberthier’s whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he had access to children from approximately 1999 until his death in 2009 are unknown.

Fr. Haberthier was also named in the Diocese of San Bernardino’s list of “Clergy Credibly Accused of Child Sexual Abuse.” According to this list, it was reported in 2006 that Fr. Haberthier had allegedly sexually abused a child in 1973 in Whittier, California. Fr. Haberthier was included on the Diocese of Wichita’s “Diocesan Disclosure of Clergy” in the section “Clergy who spent time in the Diocese of Wichita and whose name appears on another diocese’s or religious order’s list.” Fr. Haberthier was also included in the Diocese of Dodge City’s list of “priests, seminarians with substantiated allegations of sexual abuse of children” in the section “Priests with Allegations Arising in the Diocese of Dodge City.”
