In 1971, Br. Wellington Joseph Stanislaus was reportedly transferred from San Jose, California to Phoenix, Arizona after being accused of child sexual abuse in or about the 1960s while he worked at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, California. Br. Stanislaus was also purportedly allowed to work with a youth program in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2003, Br. Stanislaus was arrested in connection with child sexual abuse allegedly perpetrated in approximately 1969 at a home for wayward boys in Los Gatos, California. The charges were later dismissed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Br. Stanislaus was included on the Jesuits West Province of the Society of Jesus’ “List of Jesuits from Jesuits West Province with Credible Claims of Sexual Abuse of a Minor or Vulnerable Adult,” in the section “Deceased and Former California Province Jesuits with Credible Claims.” According to this list, a report was made in 2002 alleging that Br. Stanislaus sexually abused a minor from approximately 1969 to 1970. The Jesuits also state that Br. Stanislaus was dismissed in 1972. Br. Stanislaus’ current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown; however, it is believed Br. Stanislaus may have been living in Fresno, California and may have died in approximately 2018.
