Fr. Gerald Faue, O.S.B. was a Benedictine priest. Two civil lawsuits allege that Fr. Faue sexually abused children at St. Benedict Church in Montebello between 1963 and 1968. Fr. Faue’s personnel file includes a 1985 letter from a superior to Fr. Faue stating “you clearly have a problem” and encouraging him to seek help after he was accused of inappropriately touching boys on a playground. Fr. Faue was also arrested for lewd conduct in an X-rated movie theater in Long Beach and later pleaded guilty to trespassing. He was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.
