Fr. Thomas Havel was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1963. In 1969, he requested a leave of absence so that he could join the Marianist Order. In 1972, the Marianists gave Fr. Havel permission to study medicine at Georgetown University. At some point between 1980 and 2018, Fr. Havel was laicized. As of July 2002, he was believed to be practicing psychiatry in northern California. In 2002, a woman reported to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles that she had been sexually abused by Fr. Havel from 1968 to 1973. Fr. Havel has been named in at least three civil lawsuits alleging child sexual abuse. Fr. Havel was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. It is believed Fr. Havel may still be practicing psychiatry and may be living in Mountain View, CA. Whether he has access to children is unknown.
