Fr. Luis Jaramillo is a Capuchin priest. He was ordained in Colombia, South America in 1976 and began working in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1982. Fr. Jaramillo has been accused of sexually abusing at least two people from approximately 1986 to 1988. He has been named in at least two civil lawsuits, including one lawsuit settled by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2007. In 1989, a Capuchin priest reported to the Vicar for Clergy that Fr. Jaramillo had been accused of sexually abusing two children while he was working at St. Lawrence Brindisi and one child while working in Oregon. At some point after the report was made, Fr. Jaramillo was sent to Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Springs, an institution known for treating priests accused of child sexual abuse. Fr. Jaramillo reportedly worked in Mexico, Argentina, and the Philippines after his treatment at Servants of the Paraclete. Fr. Jaramillo was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. His status as a priest, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
