According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles at least 38 survivors have come forward alleging child sexual abuse by Fr. George N. Rucker, between approximately 1947 and 1980. Fr. Rucker is ranked #1 on the Archdiocese’s list of top 10 abusers. Fr. Rucker was first investigated by police in 1967. The first child sexual abuse lawsuit filed against him was in 1994. Fr. Rucker was arrested in 2002 on child sexual abuse charges. Criminal charges were later dropped because they fell outside the statute of limitations. Fr. Rucker was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. Fr. Rucker may have died in approximately 2014. Since 1988, Fr. Rucker’s status as a priest, his whereabouts, and whether he had access to children are unknown.
