Press Event: Abuse Survivor and Family Will Speak Publicly For First Time

Attorneys to Announce Archdiocese Settlement with Clergy Abuse Victim and New Protocol for Release of Information on Offenders

(Chicago, IL) At a news conference Monday, prominent clergy abuse attorney Jeff Anderson will:

  • Announce the settlement of a lawsuit against the Chicago Archdiocese involving sexual abuse of Angel Santiago by Father Joseph Fitzharris while he was assigned to St. Francis Xavier Parish.
  • Introduce Santiago and his family.  Santiago, whose father was a janitor at St. Francis Xavier when Angel’s abuse occurred, will speak publicly about his abuse for the time.
  • In the interests of safety and the protection of children, discuss the successful negotiation with the Chicago Archdiocese for greater transparency and a new protocol to govern the release of names and information concerning offender priests.
  • Discuss 11 additional cases settled and with the Archdiocese over the past two years.
