Allegations of child sexual abuse by Fr. John C. Anderson first surfaced in 1993, but he was not removed from ministry until 2002. In a 2018 lawsuit, Fr. Anderson was accused of abusing a child from 1979 to 1984 at St. Edward’s in Chillicothe. As of 2018, Fr. Anderson was living at the Westminster Village Retirement Community in Bloomington and conducting evening prayer. Fr. Anderson was included in the Diocese of Peoria’s list of “Priests Removed from Ministry Due to Allegations of Abuse of a Minor.” Fr. Anderson was believed to be residing in Bloomington, Illinois as of 2007. His whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
