Fr. Edward E. Bush taught in Peoria at the Academy of Our Lady from 1957 until 1964, and at Bergan High School from 1964 until 1976, while he worked as assistant pastor at St. Thomas Parish. In approximately 1964 or 1965, Fr. Bush allegedly sexually abused a student at St. Thomas Catholic School in Peoria Heights. In 2002, Fr. Bush was removed from public ministry and retired. After retiring, he resided at St. Anthony’s Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rock Island. Fr. Bush has been named in at least one sexual abuse lawsuit. Fr. Bush was included in the Diocese of Peoria’s list of “Priests Removed from Ministry Due to Allegations of Abuse of a Minor.” Fr. Bush’s whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he had access to children from 2006 until his death in 2011 are unknown.
