Damian Galligan: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Damian Galligan

In 2009, a survivor alleged that he had been sexually abused as a child by Br. Damian Galligan, a Marist brother of the Archdiocese of New York. The abuse occurred from the late 1970s to the early 1980s when the boy was 8 to 14 years old. The survivor filed a lawsuit and Br. Galligan confessed to the abuse of the survivor and other boys. A jury found in favor of the survivor and awarded him $2.4 million.

Br. Damian Galligan worked at Church of the Nativity in Manhattan, New York, and Mount St. Michael’s in the Bronx, New York. As of 2013, Br. Galligan was reportedly living in a retirement home in St. Louis.
