According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, at least one survivor has come forward alleging child sexual abuse by Fr. Efrain Rozo Rincon in approximately 1969, while he worked at St. Clement in Santa Monica. Fr. Rozo Rincon was an extern priest visiting from Colombia who worked briefly in the Archdiocese. Fr. Rozo Rincon confessed under oath in 2006 to sexually abusing a child while he worked in California. He also confessed to sexually abusing a 14-year-old seminarian in Colombia. In 2007, the Colombian church tribunal cleared Fr. Rozo Rincon on the canonical statute of limitation grounds. Fr. Rozo Rincon has been named in at least one civil lawsuit. Fr. Rozo Rincon was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. His status as a priest, current whereabouts, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
