Ramos was sent to St. Luke Institute, an institution known for treating priests accused of child sexual abuse. He was placed on leave in 1985 and sent to a parish in Tijuana, Mexico, where he was put in charge of a children’s ministry. He was removed from ministry in 1991. In 2005, the Diocese of Orange settled several child sexual abuse claims against Fr. Ramos. In 2017, a wrongful death lawsuit was filed by the widow of an alleged victim of Fr. Ramos who committed suicide in 2015. Fr. Ramos allegedly sexually abused the widow’s deceased husband when he was a child from approximately 1975 to 1978 while Fr. Ramos worked at St. Joseph’s in Placentia, California. Fr. Ramos was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.
