Fr. Eugene Maio was ordained a priest of the Society of Jesus. Fr. Maio was named in at least one civil lawsuit alleging he sexually abused a minor at Marymount High School in Los Angeles, California. At the time, Fr. Maio was on the faculty at the Jesuits’ Loyola University. Fr. Maio reportedly worked at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado Fr. Maio was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2004 list of “Priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors” and in Jesuits’ U.S. Central and Southern Province’s 2018 “List of Jesuits with Credible Accusations of Sexual Abuse of a Minor” in the category “Jesuits of the U.S. Central and Southern Province (and its predecessor entities) with Credible Allegations of Abuse of a Minor – A Single Allegation.” It is believed that Fr. Maio was laicized in 1970 or 1971. Fr. Maio was reportedly living in Akron, Ohio, in approximately 2003. Fr. Maio’s current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
