Gloria Czarniewicz: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

In 1994, Sr. Gloria Czarniewicz was named in a sexual abuse lawsuit. Sr. Czarniewicz was mother superior of a convent for nuns who worked at St. Christopher Ottilie children’s services in Sea Cliff, New York when she allegedly sexually abused then-20-year-old Sr. Jean Patricia Henninger from approximately September 1968 to February 1969. The civil suit was dismissed on statute of limitations grounds.

Sr. Gloria Czarniewicz entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth on December 28, 1950. Sr. Czarniewicz taught for 47 years as a teacher in schools in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. Sr. Czarniewicz also worked at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Little Flower Children’s Services in Wading River, New York; and Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent in Monroe, Connecticut.

Sr. Gloria Czarniewicz died on August 20, 2016.
