Br. Lawrence Sandstrom, C.S.C.: Accused of Sexual Misconduct With Minors

Br. Lawrence was a member of the Brothers of the Holy Cross religious order. Br. Sandstrom has been accused of sexually abusing at least five people. The alleged abuse took place from approximately 1955 to 1969. Br. Sandstrom was named in two civil lawsuits in 2003 alleging child sexual abuse that occurred between approximately 1967 and 1969. Some of Br. Sandstrom’s alleged victims were children from Maryvale Catholic Orphanage. Other alleged survivors have accused Br. Sandstrom of sexually abusing them as children at Rancho San Antonio in Chatsworth. Br. Sandstrom is believed to have worked at La Salle High School in Pasadena, as well as other high schools in Hayward and New Orleans. Br. Sandstrom reportedly left the order in 1997. As of 1999, Br. Sandstrom was believed to be living in Fairhope, Alabama. Br. Sandstrom was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. His current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
