Richard M. Lewkiewicz: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Richard M. Lewkiewicz

In October 2003, Fr. Richard M. Lewkiewicz, Parochial Vicar, of the Diocese of Brooklyn was named in a lawsuit brought by survivors of child sexual abuse. Fr. Lewkiewicz was working at Blessed Sacrament in Cypress Hills, New York, when he allegedly sexually abused the survivor in approximately 1970. In approximately November 2004 the Diocese of Brooklyn deemed the allegations against Fr. Lewkiewicz not credible. The Diocesan Review Board recommended Fr. Lewkiewicz remain in ministry.

Fr. Richard M. Lewkiewicz, Parochial Vicar, was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn in 1968. Fr. Lewkiewicz worked at Blessed Sacrament in Cypress Hills, New York, from 1968 to 1979; St. Camillus in Rockaway Park, New York, from 1979 to 1988; and Good Shepherd in Marine Park, New York, from 1988 to 1998. Fr. Lewkiewicz currently works at Our Lady of Angels in Bay Ridge, New York, and has been working there since 1998.
