Fr. John “Jack” J. Campbell, S.J.: Credible Accusations of Sexual Abuse of a Minor

Fr. John “Jack” J. Campbell, S.J.

Ordained, 1950

Notes: Fr. John Campbell was ordained a priest of the Society of Jesus. By 2003, 13 people had accused Fr. Campbell of sexually abusing them when they were children. One survivor reported that Fr. Campbell sexually abused him when the boy was a student at St. Louis University High School in St. Louis, Missouri. Fr. Campbell was reportedly barred from contact with children by the Jesuits in 1987 due to sexual abuse allegations, removed from public ministry in 1989, and stripped of all public priestly duties in 1993. The Jesuits Central and Southern publicly named Fr. Campbell in its 2018 “List of Jesuits with Credible Accusations of Sexual Abuse of a Minor” in the subsection “Jesuits of the U.S. Central and Southern Province (and its predecessor entities) with Credible Allegations of Abuse of a Minor – More Than One Allegation.” Fr. Campbell’s status as a priest, his whereabouts, and whether he had access to children from 2005 until his death in 2009 are unknown.
