Fr. Lorenzo Ruiz was ordained a priest of the Franciscan Friars. In approximately 1994, the Archdiocese of Denver removed Fr. Ruiz from the Office of Secretary for Hispanic Affairs and withdrew his priestly faculties. In approximately 1995, Fr. Ruiz was named in a child sexual abuse lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges Fr. Ruiz formed a “Girls Club” while he worked at Holy Family in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and allegedly sexually abused a minor girl in approximately 1978. Fr. Ruiz was included in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe’s list of “Priests, Deacons, Religious, and Seminarians Accused of Sexual Abuse of Children.” His current whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
