In 1997, Msgr. Norman D. Goodman retired after he was accused of sexually abusing multiple children. In 1999, the Diocese of Peoria settled with 13 former altar boys who alleged that they were sexually abused by Msgr. Goodman, mostly in the 1980s. In 2002, the Diocese of Peoria placed Msgr. Goodman on permanent leave. Msgr. Goodman has been named in several sexual abuse lawsuits. Msgr. Goodman was included in the Diocese of Peoria’s list of “Priests Removed from Ministry Due to Allegations of Abuse of a Minor.” Msgr. Goodman’s whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he had access to children from 2006 until his death in 2013 are unknown.
