Fr. George H. Hiland was accused of engaging in sexual misconduct with a minor approximately 50 years ago when he worked at St. Stephen in Streator. Fr. Hiland was removed from public ministry and included in the Diocese of Peoria’s list of “Priests Removed from Ministry Due to Allegations of Abuse of a Minor.” As of 2014, Fr. Hiland was believed to be residing in Sebastian, Florida. His current whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
