Fr. Joseph R. Romano worked at various schools and parishes in the Diocese of Albany until he was removed from ministry in February 2003. His removal came after accusations that he sexually abused two minors in the 1970s and 1980s, were deemed credible. In 2005, a man filed a lawsuit alleging Fr. Romano sexually abused him several times over the course of two summers while at Camp Tekawitha on Lake Luzerne in the early 1960s. Fr. Romano is listed on the Diocese of Albany’s lists of “Clergy Credibly Accused While Serving in the Diocese of Albany.” Fr. Romano’s current status as a priest, his whereabouts, and access to children are unknown
