Msgr. John Harley Schmitt was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Denver. Msgr. Schmitt was included in the Colorado Attorney General’s Special Master’s Report on “Roman Catholic Clergy Sexual Abuse of Children in Colorado from 1950 to 2019.” According to the Special Master’s Report, child sexual abuse allegations were made against Msgr. Schmitt in 1993 and 2010. Sometime in 1963 and 1964, Msgr. Schmitt allegedly sexually abused two minor children while he worked at All Saints in Denver, Colorado. The Archdiocese of Denver allegedly took no action to limit Msgr. Schmitt’s faculties or ministry. Msgr. Schmitt continued to minister at the senior home he lived in and work at a mortuary and cemetery without restriction until his death.
