After working in the Diocese of Peoria for approximately two decades, Fr. Toussaint J. Perron, W.F. was removed from public ministry in 1992 after being accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy in the rectory at St. John’s in Walnut during the summer and fall of 1992. A few months later, in early 1993, Fr. Perron was found guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and was sentenced to three years in prison. In 2005, Fr. Perron was accused in a civil lawsuit of sexually abusing a teenage boy while assigned to St. John’s in Galva between 1982 and 1984. The lawsuit subsequently settled. Fr. Perron is included in the Diocese of Peoria’s list of “Priests Removed from Ministry Due to Allegations of Abuse of a Minor.” His whereabouts, status as a priest, and whether he has access to children are unknown.
