Br. Noel Smith, O.S.F.: Accused of Sexual Misconduct

Br. Noel Smith, O.S.F.

Br. Noel Smith was a member of the Congregation of the Religious Brothers of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis. He was reportedly assigned to St. Francis Preparatory School in Queens, from approximately 1953 to 1960 and St. Anthony’s High School in Smithtown, New York, from approximately 1961 to 1984. He also reportedly taught undergraduate classes at Marist College. There were three cases filed under the New York Child Victims Act alleging Br. Noel sexually abused minors. One allegation of abuse in 1960 when Br. Noel was assigned to St. Francis Preparatory School, Queens, NY; one allegation of abuse in 1969 when Br. Noel was assigned to St. Anthony High School;  an additional allegation of abuse when Br. Noel was assigned to St. Anthony High School between 1978 and 1979.  He reportedly died in 1985.
