Fr. John William Vovko was ordained in the Diocese of Cleveland. In 1986, while on leave from the Diocese of Cleveland, he reportedly began teaching at Mesa High School in in Mesa, Arizona, within the Diocese of Phoenix. In 1990, Fr. Vovko was arrested on charges he tried to sexually abuse a young minor boy in Mesa, Arizona. He was subsequently sentenced to one year in Maricopa County Jail and lifetime probation. Fr. Vovko’s status as a priest, current whereabouts and access to children are unknown. It is believed Fr. Vovko may be deceased.
