NEW YORK SURVIVORS GIVEN MORE TIME TO EVALUATE COMPENSATION PLANS

Archdiocese of New York
Since October of 2016, survivors of sexual abuse by clerics of the Archdiocese of New York have been able to participate in a voluntary and confidential compensation program called the IRCP or Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program. Originally, the deadline for participation was set at July 31, 2017.  THE DEADLINE FOR CLAIMS AGAINST THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL NOVEMBER 1, 2017.

This allows additional time for survivors to evaluate the possible benefits of participating in the program and for the plan administrators to evaluate the claims. The IRCP is available to all survivors of sexual abuse by priests and deacons of the Archdiocese of New York. Abuse by other religious order priests and lay employees are not covered by the program. Every survivor of abuse in the Archdiocese of New York should know their rights.

Diocese of Brooklyn
Since June of 2017, survivors of sexual abuse by clerics of the Diocese of Brooklyn have been able to participate in a voluntary compensation program called the IRCP or Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program. Phase one of the Brooklyn IRCP includes survivors who previously reported that they were abused to the Diocese.  THE DEADLINE FOR PHASE ONE CLAIMS AGAINST THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN IS OCTOBER 1, 2017.

All other survivors of abuse by priests and deacons of the Diocese of Brooklyn can participate in Phase two of the IRCP. Survivors can register for phase two of the program now.  Every survivor of abuse in the Diocese of Brooklyn should know their rights.
