Illinois Clergy Sexual Abuse Report Containing 395 Perpetrator Names to be Released at News Conference Today in Chicago

Nearly 400 Catholic Clergy From All Six Illinois Dioceses Accused of Sexual Misconduct

(Chicago, IL) – At a news conference on Today in Chicago, survivors, advocates and the law firm of Jeff Anderson & Associates will:

  • Release a 185-page report on clergy sexual abuse in Illinois containing background information, photographs and assignment histories of 395 Catholic clergy and laypersons accused of sexual misconduct. The perpetrators in the report worked or continue to work in the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Dioceses of Belleville, Joliet, Peoria, Rockford and Springfield.
  • Continue a statewide initiative, “Fight for 500,” which seeks to uncover the identities and information about the more than 500 alleged predator priests the Illinois Attorney General reported are being hidden by Illinois Bishops.
  • Demand that all the Illinois Catholic Bishops come clean by disclosing the identities of all clergy and laypersons accused of sexually abusing minors that have worked or are working in Illinois.
  • Demand the release of the files pertinent to the histories of each perpetrator so the public and law enforcement know who was complicit in concealing this hazard.
