Landmark Court Ruling Finds California Catholic Bishops Can Be Sued for Nuisance—Press Conference Today

Archdiocese of Los Angeles Bishop Carl Fisher, S.S.J. Named Publicly for the First Time as a Child Sex Abuser

Attorneys to Discuss Significance of this Disclosure and How it iImpacts a Recent Landmark Court Ruling in California

 

Last week, the Archdiocese of Baltimore released a list of 23 priests with credible allegations of child sexual abuse. Included on this list was former Archdiocese of Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop Carl Fisher. This was the first time that Bp. Fisher’s name had been released to the public has having credible allegations of abuse against him.

“The non-disclosure of this prominent Bishop underscores the importance and promise that this decision holds in forcing transparency and uncovering secrets,” said Attorney Jeff Anderson.

At a news conference today at 11:00 AM in Burbank, sexual abuse survivor and plaintiff Tom Emens and the law firm of Jeff Anderson & Associates will discuss a recent order issued by the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles, allowing a sexual abuse survivor to proceed with a lawsuit against 11 California Catholic Bishops and the California Catholic Conference.
