Media Advisory: Father James Porter Survivor to Speak Publicly Tomorrow

First Minnesota Woman to Speak Publicly About Sexual Abuse by Father James R. Porter

Numerous documents to be released on Porter including his laicization file and Servants of the Paraclete documents

(Saint, Paul, MN)  – At a press conference Wednesday in St. Paul, attorney Jeff Anderson will:

  • Announce the filing of an amended complaint on behalf of a woman, Doe 24, naming the Diocese of Crookston, the Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts, and the Servants of the Paraclete, as defendants.
  • Introduce Doe 24, the first Minnesota woman to speak publicly about sexual abuse by Father James R. Porter.  Doe 24 will be present at the press conference and will speak to her experiences with Porter and why she’s coming forward.
  • Release internal church documents on Porter, including Porter’s laicization file, as well as Servants of the Paraclete documents. Porter is a serial child predator, suspected of abusing over 100 children in multiple states including Minnesota, Massachusetts, Texas, and New Mexico.
