Names of 200 Perpetrators Accused of Sexual Misconduct in the Diocese of Brooklyn to be Released Today

Survivors Abused by Msgr. Otto Garcia and Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua to Speak Publicly

Law Firm Will Also Announce Filing of 10 More Clergy Abuse Lawsuits Against Diocese of Brooklyn

(New York, NY) – Today in Manhattan, survivors, advocates and the law firm of Jeff Anderson & Associates will:

  • Release The Anderson Report on Sexual Abuse in the Diocese of Brooklyn containing the identities, histories, photographs and information on 200 perpetrators accused of child sexual abuse in the Diocese of Brooklyn;
  • Survivors of sexual abuse by Msgr. Otto Garcia – a prominent member of the Diocese’s hierarchy and noted Diocesan “fixer” who has been accused of child sexual abuse by several survivors, and Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua – former Archbishop of Philadelphia,  will speak publicly;
  • Announce the filing of 10 more clergy sexual abuse lawsuits against the Diocese of Brooklyn;
  • Demand full disclosure by the Diocese of Brooklyn, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, and the religious orders, of the identities, histories, and current whereabouts of all clergy accused of child sexual abuse who worked in the Diocese of Brooklyn;
  • Discuss New York’s new Child Victims Act (CVA), which was signed into law in February 2019. The CVA window gives survivors of child sexual abuse one year to bring lawsuits in cases that were previously barred by the statute of limitations, no matter when the abuse occurred.
