News Release: Jason McLean Named in Fourth Civil Lawsuit

McLean Sexually Abused Doe 114 in 1983 When She Was a Student at Children’s Theatre

(Minneapolis, MN) – A lawsuit was filed today on behalf of a sexual abuse survivor, Doe 114, in Hennepin County District Court naming Jason McLean, a former Children’s Theatre Company staff member, as the defendant. McLean sexually abused Doe 114 in 1983 when she was a student at Children’s Theatre Company. Throughout his tenure with Children’s Theatre, McLean worked as a company actor, staff member, and teacher.

In addition to McLean, other staff members have been accused of sexually abusing students at Children’s Theatre, including John Clarke Donahue and Steven Adamczak. Donahue and Adamczak were named in recent lawsuits brought on behalf of former Children’s Theatre students.

This is the fourth lawsuit filed since early December 2015 naming Jason McLean as a defendant. The lawsuits were made possible due to the Child Victims Act passed by the Minnesota legislature which allows survivors of sexual abuse to file claims against their abusers and the institutions that protected the abusers. Survivors of sexual abuse must bring a claim by the May 25, 2016 deadline.
