Attorneys file motion seeking release of names of  priests accused of sexual abuse

Names of 46 priests in Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis  and Winona Diocese are contained in Ramsey County court documents

(St. Paul, MN)  Attorneys for a Savage, Minnesota, man who was sexually abused as a child by a Minnesota priest are asking a Ramsey County judge to unseal court records that contain the names of 46 priests accused of molesting children in the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul and the Diocese of Winona.

The names of the priests are part of court documents ordered sealed by a judge in a pending lawsuit, originally filed by the victim in 2006, against the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis and the Diocese of Winona for their roles in the childhood sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of Fr. Thomas Adamson in the early 1980’s.

Attorney Jeff Anderson said a motion filed today asks that the names of the priests be unsealed because “many of the alleged offenders may be living in communities where people are not aware of their abuse history and therefore put children in danger.”
