Statement of Attorney Jeff Anderson on Resignation of TU Dance Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director Uri Sands

(Saint Paul, MN) – We praise the courage of Doe 597, a survivor and talented artist, who is the victim of sexual assault and harassment by Uri Sands, one of the founders and artistic directors of TU Dance Company. Doe 597 stood up and brought a lawsuit, demanding that TU Dance take action to protect the safety of other artists. Doe 597’s suit led to TU Dance conducting an investigation and Sands’ removal. We praise Doe 597 and are grateful to her and every survivor who dares to make our community safer by coming forward to share their truth.

Statements from attorneys regarding resignations, investigations, or allegations often provide legal context and advocate for transparency and accountability. Public statements can help inform communities, encourage additional victims to come forward, and highlight the importance of institutional responsibility and child protection.
