10 Women Sexual Assault Survivors to Expose Prominent Predators in the Music Industry

Demand Industry Clean-Up & Prevention Action

(Anaheim, CA) – Today (Thursday, January 25th) at 1:00 p.m. (PST), survivors and advocates will speak up and out exposing the perils of abuse and cover-up in the music industry.

WHAT:

  • An assembly of survivors, advocates, artists and musicians will speak their truth identifying the offenders and will reveal a five-step demand for systemic change.
  • Describe industry indifference by Sony, Warner and Universal.
  • Survivors to share their personal experiences of trauma, silencing, and retaliation by prominent and powerful celebrities and executives in the music industry.
  • Identify oppressive and coercive practices such as non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to silence survivors and hide the truth.

 

Demands for Safety in the Music Industry

  1. No More NDAs that silence survivors.
  2. Mandated policy protocols. If you see something, say something.
  3. Independent organization funded by MusiCaresMake Music Safe Division.
  4. Publication of celebrities and executives credibly accused of sexual assault and harassment.
  5. Victim/Survivor Bill of Rights

 

Covetower, an investigative film team led by award-winning veteran journalist and filmmaker Amy Herdy, is producing an expose documentary project based on the music industry cases. Amy will be attending tomorrow’s press conference.

The team’s previous projects include “Justice”, Hollywood blockbuster director Doug Liman’s documentary about the sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh; “On the Record”, the documentary on the women coming forward about Def Jam founder Russell Simmons, and “Allen v. Farrow” the HBO series about Dylan Farrow naming her famous father Woody Allen as her perpetrator.
