Advocates, Survivors’ Attorneys to Address California’s Historic New Child Victims Act Today in San Francisco

The New Law Will Protect Kids, Help Survivors

(San Francisco, CA) – Today in San Francisco, advocates and the law firm of Jeff Anderson & Associates will:

  • Discuss California’s historic new Child Victims Act, which was signed into law Sunday. The law provides a three-year window for sexual abuse survivors to bring lawsuits in cases that were previously barred by the statute of limitations, no matter when the abuse occurred;
  • Demand that California institutions that have protected and concealed child predators release the names of all perpetrators who have worked for them, as well as information on the alleged perpetrators’ history, current whereabouts and what the institution knew about alleged child sexual abuse;
  • Encourage sexual abuse survivors to come forward confidentially under the Child Victims Act.
