Press Event: Civil Lawsuit in Penn State Sex Scandal to be Announced at Philadelphia News Conference Today

Lawsuit on Behalf of Man who Claims as a Child He was Repeatedly Sexually Abused by Jerry Sandusky

At a news conference today at the Omni Hotel at Independence Park in Philadelphia, Attorneys Jeff Anderson and Marci Hamilton will announce a civil lawsuit to be filed on behalf of a man identified in the complaint as John Doe and whose abuse was not disclosed in the Grand Jury report.  The man claims that as a child he was repeatedly sexually abused by Jerry Sandusky.  A statement from the victim will be read at the news conference. The complaint, to be filed Wednesday in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, names Penn State University, The Second Mile and Gerald Sandusky as defendants.

Attorney Jeff Anderson is a nationally known St. Paul, Minnesota-based trial lawyer widely recognized as a pioneer in sexual abuse litigation.  Anderson has offices cities in the across United States, is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, and most recently has filed several clergy abuse lawsuits arising out of the Philadelphia Grand Jury Report.  Over nearly three decades Anderson has represented thousands of survivors of sexual abuse by authority figures.

Attorney and Professor Marci Hamilton, of counsel to Jeff Anderson & Associates, is one of the United States’ leading constitutional legal scholars, as well as an expert on the First Amendment.  Professor Hamilton holds the Paul R. Verkuil Chair in Public Law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University, and is the author of God vs. the Gavel: Religion and the Rule of Law (Cambridge University Press 2005), and Justice Denied: What America Must Do to Protect Its Children (Cambridge 2008) Professor Hamilton is a 1988 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and served as Editor-in-Chief of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.  She clerked for Judge Edward R.
