Clergy Abuse and Cover Up Lawsuit Publicly Names Catholic Priest as a Child Sex Abuser for the First Time

Alleged abuser is alive and was in ministry as recently as 2019

Survivor & attorneys demand bishop publicly disclose ALL credibly accused clerics

WHAT: At a news conference tomorrow (June 8), a courageous clergy abuse survivor, advocates, and attorneys from Jeff Anderson & Associates will:

  • Announce the filing of a lawsuit under California’s “window law” (AB 218) for survivors of child sex abuse.
  •  Reveal publicly for the first time the details of the abuse perpetrated by priest and former Catholic school superintendent, Fr. Ramon Marrufo.
  • Demand that the bishops of the Diocese of San Diego and Diocese of San Bernardino be more transparent and less secretive.

In addition, an abuse survivor will speak publicly for the first time about their abuse and a Spanish speaker will translate during the event.

“The possibility of an accused child sex abuser being in charge of children as recently as 2019 is a public safety nightmare, “ said attorney Mike Reck of Jeff Anderson & Associates. “The lack of action from church leadership for the last year shatters any remaining illusion of ethically-sound leadership.”

“It’s time for light, truth and the bishops of San Diego and San Bernardino to come clean,” said Jeff Anderson of Jeff Anderson & Associates.

WHEN: Tuesday, June 8, 2021 – 1:00 PM PT

WHERE: Outside of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, 1535 Third Avenue, CA 92101
