Two Trenton Priests Accused in New Sex Abuse Lawsuits, One Publicly Named for the First Time

Other Accused Priest Named as Abuser by at Least Three Survivors in New York

Diocese of Trenton Must Add All Priests Involved in Secret Settlements to Credibly Accused List, Attorneys Demand

What: At a virtual news conference tomorrow, attorneys for survivors of child sexual abuse in the Diocese of Trenton will announce two new lawsuits against priests who preyed on children there. Neither priest is named in the Diocese of Trenton’s list of clergy credibly accused of the sexual abuse of a minor. They are:

  • A long-time priest who has been accused of sexual abuse in at least three lawsuits in the New York, and
  • A priest—publicly named for the first time—who worked in Trenton and across the state in his 45-year career.

The attorneys and New Jersey advocates will also demand that Trenton Bishop O’Connell:

  • Update his list of accused to include every priest who was the subject of a secret settlement or Victim Compensation Program payment, and
  • Include the names of these men and at least 33 other credibly accused priests who lived and worked in the Diocese of Trenton, according to public record, to their List of Credibly Accused Clergy.

When: Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. CT
